Sustainable Packing List

The webs of life and sustainability are complex. The goal is progress, not perfection.

Items on this list will help you reduce waste, but remember that sometimes gains in one respect might result in losses elsewhere.

Also, your travel style and needs will be different from other travelers.

Don’t overthink it. Just do your best.

General Advice

➡️ Pack light, especially if you’re flying, to reduce fuel consumption from heavier loads
➡️ Use items that you already own rather than purchasing something new
➡️ See if you can find a second-hand option before buying new
➡️ When purchasing new, opt for quality, long-lasting materials
➡️ Look for upcycled and recycled products
➡️ Buy at local stores when possible to reduce packaging waste
➡️ Beware of marketing that claims products are more eco-friendly than they are
